There is No God Like Jehovah
Our Lord declared in Matthew 22:29 - "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God." Today, sometimes we err for the same reasons. Biblical ignorance and skepticism of the power of deity are two common failures in our age, and there is no excuse for either one. Personally, I do not claim to thoroughly understand the Scriptures or the power of the Almighty, but I endeavor to know both and to grow in my understanding.

Of all the pagan deities, carved idols, and graven images one can imagine, there is no God like Jehovah (or Yahweh)--the God of the Bible! He is not weak or feeble. He is not the product of man's imagination or craftsmanship (cf. Isa. 44:9-20). He is the great I AM. He is the only true and living God. He is the only one full of infinite power, knowledge, wisdom, and love. He is greater than we can even imagine! Yet, that should not stop us from trying to understand what little bit we can and prostrating ourselves before Him regularly!

Consider a brief sampling of passages from the Bible that emphasize certain aspects of God's unique greatness:

Exodus 34:6 - "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth."

Psalm 19:1 - "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork."

Ephesians 3:20,21 - "Now to Him [i.e., God] who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

And these are just the "mere edges of His ways" (Job 26:14)!

Psalm 139 is a wonderful description of Almighty God. It shows Him to be omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, and absolutely righteous. Such a being is worthy of our praise and worship! Let's close with some excerpts from this wonderful psalm of David:

"O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; you understand my thought afar off...and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O LORD, you know it altogether...Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there...For you formed my inward parts; you covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well...How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand" (Psa. 139:1-4,7,8,13,14,17,18).

Friends, there is no God like Jehovah; there is just no comparison!
